About the Photographs

About 10 years ago I bought a Tamron macro lens for my 35 mm SLR camera. Using black and white film, I took a very close up picture of a rose that I developed in a photography class that I was taking at the time. As I developed the picture in the dark room, I was amazed at what was appearing through the chemicals and realized that there was an entire universe that seemed previously hidden from my view. Since then, I have left film behind and use a Nikon digital camera with the same macro lens.

As my eye moves from one newly discovered detail to the next in each flower, I am aware that I am witnessing beauty that is both fleeting and endless. My photography allows me to record this moment, and thus the beauty is rendered timeless.
